Pre-requisites for this tutorial?

Placing Agents

  1. Make sure the flight from the Simple fly-through tutorial is open.
  2. The Renderview window should be selected
    1. click on the Agn tab
    2. on the usee control click the new button, then click view an Agency edit form window opens
      1. click Add new
      2. Double-click Agency data XX text, a new Agency editor opens up
  3. Select the Agency editor window
    1. click the Add button (lower left), a new list item gets created
    2. highlight new list item from left window of Agency editor
      1. From Type drop-down menu choose your desired agent
  4. Enter an easting and northing for agent placement
    1. To manually enter easting and northing
      1. highlight CAM tab and use e/n coordinates from view
    2. To place using the cursor
      1. enable auto add copy in the agency editor and send cursor3 (world tab)
      2. click cursor on render view and a copy of the camera is placed in agency editor with easting and northing
        1. if using auto add copy method don't forget to delete original camera
  5. Set size of agent
  6. Enable Enabled and Visible boxes
  7. Set transparancy to 1
  8. Enable Agencies box is in upper left corner of render window
  9. To accurately place the agent
    1. Highlight Keys button (bottom-center agency editor window)
    2. Use flight control keys to move agent
      1. shift + arrow - moves agent north (up), south (down), east (right), west (left)
      2. ctrl + up/down - increases/decreases size of agent
      3. shift & ctrl + up/down - increases/decreases elevation of agent
      4. left/right arrows - change heading of agent
  10. Once the agent is placed, change the time (num or text)in agency editor window, to correspond with the time of your render view
    1. If the time is not displayed
      1. Select the Time tab from the render view window
      2. Enable one of the display modes --> should display in upper left of render view
  11. If you plan on moving the agent through the frames, or fading the agent in/out of frame, you must assign the agent a group number (right-side agency editor)
  12. Click the + Add copy button in the Agency editor window
    1. Highlight the new copy from the list (Tip: to identify the copy look at the right side of the window; dist. from prev. = 0 is the copy
  13. Step forwards in your flight, to desired frame or time
    1. To step through your flight use the playback model time tool window (blue arrows move to previous/next time step)
  14. Enable keys on Agency Editor and place agent.
