Renderer Tabs
The Render View Form is the GUI for the Renderer. The many options and controls for the renderer are accessed via tabs at the top of the form. These tabs allow you to input and access the data, perform operations on the data (i.e. make terrain), and change how the data is visualized.
General Tab
Increase the sharpness of your rendered image by increasing the number of accumulations. Increasing the number of accululations will increase to time for Tarsier to render an image. Use wisely.
Sun Tab
You can set the sun feature in your render to automatically adjust to your model time object. Meaning when your time is at a period of night, your render will be darker then when your time is at a period of day.
Manually adjust the position of the sun
- Elevation: colors will apear brighter when the sun is higher in the sky
- Azimuth: features in your DEM with different strikes will be highlighted as the sun is shining from different directions
Manually adjust the RGBs (primary colors... red, blue and green) of your data
- Sky: sets the color of the sky
- Ambient: visibility of the data not dependent on the sun settings
- Diffusion: this essentially adjusts the blending of colors
Rec Tab
Record flights or take a still frame picture of your render Tarsier tutorial: Simple fly-through
Time Tab
Can open a model time object ( .tti ) for your vizualization.
Frus Tab
Change the amount of data that is being rendered in each frame.
- "Near" is the distance that data will be rendered from the camera
- "Far" is the distance that data will be rendered away from the camera
Rendering less data will take less time, but rendering more data may be necessary situationally. Chose wisely.
Econ Tab
Allows the user to adjust the quality of the render image at the expense of time
- Detail value: determines the amount of detail drawn between cell values
- Re-origin now: rebuilds the render any time the user wants
- Rebuild distance: rebuilds the render automatically when the camera moves a specified distance
- Rebuild angle: rebuilds the render automatically when the camera rotates a specified angle
Rebuilds take time, less rebuilds mean faster flying. Chose wisely.
Tex Tab
Vec Tab
Allows you to incorporate vector data ( .tvc ) into your 3D render.
World Tab
World2 Tab
Ocean Tab
Sky Tab
Fog Tab
HPlane Tab
3DObj Tab
Graphs Tab
Ven Tab
This tab allows you to overlay another raster over the top of the terrain - use a raster as a veneer. The height above the terrain is defined by the value of the veneer raster inversely scaled by a "density" value (value in the "Den" box). This feature was initially added to visualize snowpack dynamics. However, it can be used for a variety of purposes, such as adding rugosity to rocky terrain.
Ven2 Tab
Raster Tab
Where you create your 3D representation of your raster data ( TRA ).
- Enable raster in the top left box
- Change the color scheme of your data by clicking the "C" button
- Follow this tutorial Tarsier tutorial: Renderer
R2, R3 Tab
Allows for the rendering of multiple sets of raster data ( TRA ).
