Pathogens

Possible Sources: Collection System Failure, Natural Sources, Onsite Wastewater Systems (Septic Tanks), Pasture Grazing-Riparian and/or Upland, Urban Runoff/Storm Sewers

TMDL: Fecal Coliform concentration shall not exceed - 200 MPN/100mL (w/ no less than 5 samples for any 30-day period) or 400 MPN/100mL (for no more than 10% of single samples collected during any 30-day period)[2]

TMDL Approval Status:

  • Central Coast Water Board - approved May 8, 2009
  • State Water Resources Control Board - approved August 3, 2010
  • Office of Administrative Law (OAL) - approved October 29, 2010 - Effective date
  • US Environmental Protection Agency - approved January 20, 2011
