Overview

The Clear Creek Management Area (CCMA) is a habitat conservation area managed by the Bureau of Land Management. CCMA contains approximately 75,000 acres, 63,000 acres of which is public land administered by the BLM Central Coast Field Office. is notable for its wide range of recreational activities including camping, hunting, hobby gem/mineral collecting, horseback riding, hiking/backpacking, mountain biking, and sightseeing. A rugged and remote area of San Benito and Fresno counties, CCMA is characterized by chaparral, bare slopes, and inland scrub. CCMA rests upon an expansive serpentine mineral deposit and attracts geologists and hobby mineral collectors alike. CCMA contains one of the largest naturally occurring asbestos deposits in the world. The risk of airborne asbestos is present year-round and visitors should take all necessary precautions when at the site. [2]
