Summary

The Rat Creek/Gorda Complex fire was a wildfire ignited by lightning strike in the Ventana Wilderness area. This wildfire burned nearly 80,000 acres and marked the second major wildfire within the Los Padres National Forest/Ventana Wilderness area since 1977. The first fire in 1977 was the Marble Cone Fire (1977).
