Roberts Lake is a freshwater lake located in the city of Seaside, and within the Canyon del Rey Watershed. It was formerly an estuary but the development of construction and fill for local highways removed any saltwater influence. The lake is connected to Laguna Grande Regional Park, and was named after Dr. John Roberts who was a founder of the city.[1] The lake provides habitat for local waterfowl, including the rare Heermann's Gull where a small island in the lake was thought to be the species' only breeding location in the United States before it became submerged.BirdLife International 2018.
