History
In 1990, all 28,000 acres of Ford Ord was listed on the National Priorities List. Sites of concern included areas where the following activities has been documented: firing ranges, hazardous waste storage, vehicle maintenance, motor pools, dry cleaners, sewage treatment plants and unregulated disposal. General areas of concern included:
- Groundwater quality
- Contaminants from base activities
- Distribution of organic chemicals
- Seawater intrusion
- Soil
