History

In 1990, all 28,000 acres of Ford Ord was listend on the National Priorities List. Sites of concern included areas where the following activities has been documented: firing ranges, hazardous waste storage, vehicle maintenance, motor pools, dry cleaners, sewage treatment plants and unregulated disposal. [1]

General areas of concern included:

  • Groundwater quality
  • Contaminants from base activities
  • Distribution of organic chemicals
  • Seawater intrusion
  • Soil
