The 'Renderer' (RenderViewForm) is the main 3D visualization tool within Tarsier. Its function is to display geospatial information from

For any given scene the Renderer must decide what should be drawn, in what order to draw things, and how things should be drawn. For example, lets say we are viewing an ocean scene from above the waters surface looking down. Our view angle includes bathymetric data stored as a raster, habitat characterization data (also in raster format), data on kelp distribution and abundance (raster again), fish locations (table data), and boundaries of Marine Protected Areas stored as vectors. Perhaps some of these things change with time (e.g. the fish locations). ..unfinished..

Renderer Tabs

The Render View Form is the GUI for the Renderer. The many options and controls for the renderer are accessed via tabs at the top of the form. These tabs allow you to input and access the data, perform operations on the data (i.e. make terrain), and change how the data is visualized.

General Tab

Increase the sharpness of your rendered image by increasing the number of accumulations. Increasing the number of accululations will increase to time for Tarsier to render an image. Use wisely.

This tab allows you to overlay another raster over the top of the terrain - use a raster as a veneer. The height above the terrain is defined by the value of the veneer raster inversely scaled by a "density" value (value in the "Den" box). This feature was initially added to visualize snowpack dynamics. However, it can be used for a variety of purposes, such as adding rugosity to rocky terrain.
