History in the California Central Coast Region

  • The United States Army first came to the Central Coast of California in 1902 when the Army began building a cantonment area on what is now known as the Presidio of Monterey at the end of the Philippine War.
  • Since then, the Army has established 7 bases in the California Central Coast Region, most of them still in use today, and owns #### acres of land (still need to find how much land they actually own and manage, hard to find).

Land Usage and Ownership

Land use and ownership of each base can be found on their individual wiki pages.
