A organizational summary by the ENVS 560/L Watershed Systems class at CSUMB.

Overview

The United States Army is one of the three military departments reporting to the Department of Defense and is composed of two distinct components: active and reserve. The reserve components include the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

The Army conducts operational and institutional missions. The operational Army includes armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that conduct full spectrum operations around the world. The institutional organizations provide the infrastructure required to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness or all Army forces. [1]
