The
low precipitation in 2006 and 2007 caused the sandbar to close
before downmigrating
adult steelhead (kelts) were able to return to the ocean, stranding
over one hundred kelts. These
photos document CRSA
and NOAA lead rescue efforts on April 28 and May 4, 2007.

Seining
August
2004
All fish were seined out of the excavation zone of the pre-existing
South Arm prior to excavation.
Seining
June 2005
The newly excavated portion of the South Arm was seined to
demonstrate this new habitat was being used by steelhead.

Portions of the pre-existing and newly excavated lagoon were seined to determine the presence of fish.

The Carmel River Steelhead Associated lead a seining effort
to evaluate the condition of fish present in the lagoon in
early December.

The California Dept of of recreation along with the help of
other agencies lead a seining effort to evaluate the condition
of fish present in the lagoon in late Julyr.
