The City of Salinas Treatment Plant treats water from food processing facilities and sends it to spreading basins to percolate into the groundwater aquifers or to evaporate [1]. The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD), Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency (MRWPCA), and California American Water Company (CalAm) have proposed using the treated water as a water source for the Monterey Peninsula Groundwater Replenishment Project.
