Obtaining data from glovis

  1. Go to the glovis website http://glovis.usgs.gov/
  2. Select Landsat ETM+ SLC-on as the sensor (dates will be about 1999-2003).
  3. Click the View Images button.
  4. The USGS Global Visualization Viewer will open in a pop-up window. If it doesn't come up you might need to configure your browser to accept pop-ups from USGS. You can find info on how to do this searching the help of your specific browser.
  5. Browse to your area of interest. You can do this by clicking on the map or imputing the latlon coordinates.
  6. Browse for a scene with minimal cloud cover and snow. Choose a month when there is contrast between trees and grass, usually this happens in Oct or September.
