Summary
The Carmel Valley aquifer lies along the downstream portion of the Carmel River located southeast of the Monterey Peninsula.
The Carmel River drains a watershed area of approximately 250 square miles into
the Pacific Ocean at Carmel Bay.[1] The groundwater basin is primarily the Carmel
Valley floor. The floor is about 16 miles long and varies in width from 300 to
